Thanks very much Dave for the brilliant photo but it doesn't relate to anything in RAVE I'm afraid.

In the absence of someone with Harmony experience spotting your thread, I'd suggest searching the ICE sub-forum as I'm sure I've read about these mysterious overlay harnesses before.

Sorry not to be more help.

Harness VUL 100310?

I keep coming across this cable as necessary to connect a Harmony radio to the CD changer but I see various images which appear to plug in to the back of the CD rather than directly to the plug that I have. Any ideas please?

Simon/Matt: I must be losing my marbles. Having spent hours trawling the net for another cable/harness; peering at minute code nos. on BMW plugs that an ant would have trouble reading - I had a Eureka moment at 4.00am this morning. I've already a cable, in the old car. I just have to remove the Harmony, unplug the harness and reverse procedure in the "new" car. Can you see any snags?

You might need to partially de-pin the connector that the radio end to transfer the wires over without cutting and crimping new terminals on. I'm not 100% on that though as I put a CD changer on a Symphony system which has different connectors.

I thought I had solved the problem by using the connecting cables from the old Tourer to the new. Silly me. Having taken the Harmony out I see the mass/mess of looms here. I had thought that there would be one simple direct loom (VUL 100310) that would connect from the back of the radio to the plug that lurks beneath the fuse box that connects to the CD. Below you can see that life is never that simple as it splits into the main harness.

However I have had a most welcome offer of this elusive loom which may or may not be the answer for a frustrated elderly gent.

From your photo pink & black and yellow & black can be clearly seen from the small CD connector inserted into the main Harmony connector. I listed these wires in my post no. 3.

An "overlay harness" is used. This has a 10 pin rectangular black connector (C1316) at the Harmony end. Only four terminals are wired and the colours are pink/black, yellow/black, black/pink and black/yellow. This connector fits into one of two rectangular ports on the 17 pin square-ish black connector (C1315) at the rear of the Harmony.

These wires must emerge from the loom somewhere near the CD changer as they carry the audio left and right channels. What we're seeing cannot be a dealer-fit accessory, the CD changer must have been factory-fitted.

What do you think Dave?

Simon: This is turning into an epic, things have moved on. A well known trader who is no longer a Forum member is sending me the harness VUL 100310 which he says should provide the vital Missing Link. I have pulled this out from posting here https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=88386. Unfortunately, and there always seems to be a downside with this, the posting lists the Alpine models, but of course mine (XQD 000470PUY) is not shown. So as usual I don't know, but will have a close look when it arrives. Fingers crossed as usual.

My harmony radio is in the cupboard and since I gave the cd changer away, the plug is still in the glovebox. Not sure it's removable as the setup is the same as yours 🤔
